Installation
From booking to first charge
Most home EV charger installations are completed in a single morning. Here’s what to expect from start to finish.
Quote & site survey
We assess your consumer unit, cable routes, and preferred charger position. Most domestic installs can be quoted remotely from a few photos.
Grant paperwork (if applicable)
We handle the OZEV grant application on your behalf where you qualify — currently available for flats, renters, and some commercial properties.
Installation day
Most home chargers are installed in around three hours. We run the cable, fit the unit, and configure smart features including off-peak scheduling.
App setup & handover
We connect your charger to its app, set up your off-peak schedule, and show you how to monitor usage and costs.

Does my consumer unit need upgrading?
Most modern boards can accommodate a 7kW charger without changes. We check at survey stage and only recommend work that’s genuinely needed.
Can I charge from my solar panels?
Yes – smart chargers like the Zappi or Ohme can detect excess solar generation and divert it to your car rather than exporting it.
Is tethered or untethered better?
Tethered (cable attached) is more convenient for daily use. Untethered suits households with multiple EVs using different connector types.
What's the difference between 7kW and 22kW?
7kW single-phase is standard for homes. 22kW requires three-phase supply – more common in commercial settings. Most EVs can only accept 7–11kW anyway.
